THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Hawes Clary entered into rest June 13, 2008, in Atlanta.
He is survived by his children, Charles Walker Clary of Atlanta, and Lindsay Deane Clary of Philadelphia, Pa.; sister, Joan Pridgen and husband, Howard of Waycross; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Kinnon, Waycross, Howard Pridgen, Cochran, Ann Seeley, Acworth, and Jane P. Hersey, Waycross.
Mr. Clary, a native of Thomson and son of the late Horace E. and former Ava Hawes of Lincoln County, was a 1963 graduate of the University of Georgia and had served in the Georgia National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He moved to Atlanta, where he began his business career in life insurance with Continental Assurance Corp. He worked for many years with American Agency Life Insurance Co. with stints with his own agencies. After selling his last company, he returned to his hometown where he pursued a love for antiquities while consulting for the law firm of Dallas & Medlin.
Mr. Clary was preceded in death by his parents, Horace E. and Ava Hawes Clary; and half-brothers, Lt. Col. Horace E. Clary, Jr. and Capt. Forrest Thurston Clary.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at Westview Cemetery.
