AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Thomas Edward Anthony, 86, beloved father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at University Hospital.
Mr. Anthony was born in Augusta to his parents, the late Elizabeth and John D. Anthony. He was a 1936 graduate of Richmond Academy. He served in the Army during WWII. From 1951 to 1999, Mr. Anthony owned Anthony's Radio and Television Service on Wrightsboro Road. Every year, hundreds looked forward to his early morning call to sing them "Happy Birthday" and share a word of encouragement. His greatest desire in life was that many would accept Jesus Christ as Lord. He had been very active with the Walk to Emmaus, a Christian growth retreat. Mr. Anthony is a former member of Pierce Memorial Untied Methodist Church for more than 50 years. He was a current member of Marvin United Methodist Church for the past 27 years. He was preceded in death By his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Sylvia Story of Thomson.
He is survived By two daughters, Nancy Oellerich and husband, Dale, and Maxine Smelts and husband, Jerry, and one son, John Anthony and wife, Susan. In addition, he is survived By eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 18, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Marvin United Methodist church with Rev. Chuck Moon officiating.
