Mr. Ed Rice
Retired Belk Manager

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Ed Rice entered into rest June 12, 2007, at his residence after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Rice.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Entombment services were held at 4 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Upson Memorial Gardens in Thomaston, Ga.

Mr. Rice was born in Hull, GA and was the son of the late Asa Rice and the late Maude Hart Rice. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces during WW II in the European Theatre. Mr. Rice was a retired manager of Belk with 42 years service and was retired as property manager with Watson and Knox in Thomson. He was also the past president of the Thomaston Country Club, the VFW, the Georgia Realtors Association and First Baptist Church of Thomaston, Ga.

Survivors include: wife, Teresa Rice, Thomson; two daughters: Haley Rice, Columbus, Ga., and Bethany Simmons, Thomson; a brother, Pete Rice, Hull, Ga.; grandchild, Kyle Simmons, Thomson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Region 2, P. O. Box 1725 Augusta, GA 30903-1725.
