Ms. Bertha R. Cheely

NAPLES, Fla. - Bertha R. Cheely, 91, of Naples, formerly of Warren County, died June 9, 2006. A former resident of Cedar Rock, Mesena, Thomson and Elberton, she had been a resident of Naples since 1991, where she resided with her daughter, June C. McClain of Naples. Bertha was born November 23, 1914, to Theola and Jess (J.O.) Reese. She was one of 10 children who survived to adulthood.

Bertha is survived by her children, June C. McClain of Naples and Ben (Tuck) Cheely of Weston, Co. Also surviving are two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kitty Newsome, Coco, Fla., Polly Woodruff, Sardis, Ga. Mary (John) Culbreath, Union Point, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Edith Reese, Washington, Ga. and Mabel Reese, Cedar Rock, Ga. and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased in death by her husband, Bill, in August 1991 and six brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Reese officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
