Mr. Edwin Franklin "Frankie" Russell
Retired Military

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Edwin Franklin "Frankie" Russell, 61, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2006 in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Burial was at Camak Methodist Church. Full military honors were observed.

Mr. Russell was a native of Athens, but lived in McDuffie County for many years. Mr. Russell was a U.S. Army Veteran of 22 years, having served in Vietnam. He was a former police officer. He was a member of the A.J. Miller Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin F. Russell, Sr. and Mrs. Doris C. Russell and his sister, Winkie Brassell.

He is survived by two daughters, Karena Shockley and Vanelle Smith, both of Missouri; two brothers, Larry Russell of White, Ga. and Phillip Russell of Lithonia, Ga.; three sisters, Beth Brinkley and Donna McAlister, both of Thomson, Ga. and Cathy Meeks, Covington, Ga. and a stepson, Rodney Wilcox of Lexington, Ky. and six grandchildren.

Military were pallbearers and Mason were honorary pallbearers.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
