The time to register for summer quarter at Augusta Technical College is now.
Classes begin at the Thomson-McDuffie Campus on Wednesday, July 6, and registration remains open through July 5 for all day, evening, and on-line classes.
Classes currently being offered include accounting, air conditioning technology, business and office technician, certified nursing assistant, criminal justice, early childhood, electrical control system, environmental horticulture, industrial maintenance, and microcomputer specialist.
One of the newer classes being offered for the summer quarter is management and supervisory development program, designed for those who aspire to be in any type of management. Julie Langham, enrollment manager, said the course teaches "everything concerned with management, including counseling, disciplinary actions, human resources, and legal aspects."
Registration is open also for the medical assisting program, which begins in the fall quarter. "We encourage everyone to apply early for the medical assisting program, because it's only offered one time each year," Mrs. Langham said.
Registration cost is $15 for a one-time application fee. The school will obtain transcripts from high school, GED, or any previous college. Some students may be required to take an entrance test.
"We also offer financial aid right here," Mrs. Langham said. "You don't have to go to Augusta for anything, we can help you with everything to get you started."
Persons interested in registering for a class, may apply from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, on campus at 388 Tech Drive NW, in Thomson. The school will be closed Monday, July 4. For more information, call 595-0166.
