GRIFFIN, Ga. - Mrs. Mildred Roberts Bonner died Monday morning at St. George's Woods in Griffin.
Funeral services were held at Savannah Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Thomson on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 10 a.m.
Mrs. Bonner was born on May 4, 1915, in Elbert County, Ga. She was the daughter of Nora Turner Roberts and John Wesley Roberts of Bowman, Ga. Mrs. Bonner was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence Evans Moore, and her second husband, Harold Hitt Bonner. She was a long-time resident of Dearing, where she moved after college to begin her 30-year teaching career. She was a resident of Austin Oaks in Thomson for 12 years before moving to Griffin in the summer of 2004. Throughout her adult life, she was a devoted member of the Dearing Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was named McDuffie County Citizen of the Year in her eighties.
Mrs. Bonner is survived by her daughter, Carole Anne Moore Marshall, of Griffin; and her grandson and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Wright Marshall, IV, of Atlanta.
Conner- Westbury Funeral Home of Griffin is handling the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dearing Baptist Church's building fund or the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
