Massey questions officers' actions

Dear Editor,

Several years ago, the "garden" state of New Jersey was sued for millions of dollars for racial profiling.

Our law enforcement personnel in McDuffie County appear to be under the illusion that only black people use drugs, that only black people drink and drive, that only black people break the law.

No, I can't sit by and say nothing when all of their efforts are concentrated in the heart of the black community. Every single roadblock or checkpoint is in our neighborhoods.

That is a very sorry way to attack DUI offenders. Why not set up a road block near Belle Meade? Is that illegal? Justice was meant to be color blind.

In the words of my idol, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Respectfully submitted,

Wallace "BoBo" Massey, Thomson
