ANDERSON, S.C. - Mr. James Albert "Al" McGaw, 90, beloved father and grandfather, died in Anderson, S.C., 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ella Margaret (Markey) McGaw; three daughters, Julia Book, Peggy (Conrad) Soliz, Joy (Keith) Gilmore; one son, James Albert (Jim) McGaw II (Sam); seven grandchildren, Dr. Gwen Pearson, Mrs. Erin Jones (Greg), Mr. Scott Waugh (Susan), Mr. Mark Waugh (Christie), Mrs. Kathryn McGaw Blount (P.J.), Mr. James Albert (Jamie) McGaw III and Ms. Maggie Gilmore; and three great-grandchildren, Braeden Waugh, Heather Waugh and Kathryn Waugh.
Al was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge, a member of Scottish Rite. He was a member of Thomson Presbyterian Church and an active volunteer for Friends of the Library and Thomson Elementary School. He was a retired general contractor and civilian materials procurement officer for U.S. Air Force, Newark, Ohio.
A memorial service was held at the Thomson Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 26, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Wilfred Bellamy officiated.
Mr. McGaw's body was donated to medical research. Cards may be sent to the family c/o Jim McGaw, 509 Fluker St., Thomson, GA 30824.
