THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Berta Jean Ferguson, 71, widow of Mr. Ray Ferguson, Sr., and the daughter of the late Auren H. and Marie Whetstone Mitchell, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, in Thomson Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2004, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Stuphin and Rev. Franklin Thomas officiating.
Mrs. Ferguson was a native of Richmond County, but had lived most of her life in Thomson.
She worked at BI-LO, McDuffie Regional and retired from Dr. Lemley's office. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Allen Grant.
She is survived by two daughters, Connie (Charles) Black, North Augusta, Cheryl McNair, Thomson; two sons, Calvin (Lucretia) Ferguson, Thomson and Ray (Diane) Ferguson, Martinez; her brother, Auren (Betty) Mitchell, Jr., North Augusta; a friend, Junior Lee Coleman; eight grandchildren, Tammy B. Benenhaley, Charles Black Jr., Chris Grant, Lisa G. Welch, Patrick Ferguson, Thomas Ray Ferguson, Ray Ferguson, Marcy F. King and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Grant, Patrick Ferguson, Thomas Ray Ferguson, Charles Black Jr., Ray Ferguson, Burnell Mitchell, Auren Mitchell, III and Greg Grant.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
