Mr. Robert E. Hawkins

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Robert E. Hawkins, widower of Mrs. Grace Hawkins, died Monday, June 23, 2008, in the V.A. Medical Center in Augusta.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008, in the Thomson First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. James Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hawkins was a native of Greenville County, S.C., but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired from Georgia Iron Works and an Army veteran. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the A.G. Leroy Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his son, Mr. Lonnie Hawkins, Salem, Utah; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Russell Gary, J. C. Langham, James Bridges, Newt Hildebrand and Bill Bales.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
