FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Mr. Aubrey Cicero Brooks, 85, of Fayetteville, Tenn., died Thursday June 29, 2006, in the Hillside Memorial Hospital in Pulaski, Tenn..
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Saturday July 1, 2006, in the Curtis Funeral Home, with Dr. Leonard Dupree officiating. Burial followed in the Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks was a native of Stapleton, a son of the late Lemuel Reese and Anne Thigpen Brooks. He was an educator with degrees from Middle Tennessee State, in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Army Artillery as a radioman in the South Pacific during World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. Mr. Brooks lived many years in Anchorage, AK, working primarily as a management engineer at Fort Richardson. He had spent much of his life doing Christian evangelism from Alaska to Key West, Washington State to Virginia and Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters and two wives, Margaret Spear Brooks and Ivy Caudill Brooks.
He is survived by daughters, Maritana Appling of Marietta, Paula Kudadad of San Diego, Calif., and Becky Coffman of Huntington, WV; brother, John G. Brooks of Dearing; a sister, Joyce Brooks Hughes of Thomson; three grandchildren, Savannah Coffman, Dylan Kudadad, and Matt Beardsley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
