Mr. Truett S. Beasley and Mrs. Gwen Norman Beasley

GULF BREEZE, Fla. - Mr. Truett S. Beasley, 76, and Mrs. Gwen Norman Beasley, 72, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., formerly of Jackson, Ala., died June 24, 2005, in an auto accident in Atlanta.

The couple was on their way to the reunion of the Thomson High School Class of 1950. Mrs. Beasley was a member of that class.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Chapel in Jackson with interment in Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Opp, Ala.

Mr. Beasley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as captain with the Jackson Police Department after 32 years of service and was also a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

Mrs. Beasley was a retired school teacher having worked with the Jackson Public school for 30 years and received her Ph.D. from Jackson State University in 1986. They both were long time members of Epworth United Methodist Church before their retirement and travels throughout the United States.

Survivors include their daughter, Vickie Lynn Beasley, Panama City Beach, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Truett Jr. and Terri Beasley, Mobile, Ala., Norman and Cheryl Beasley, Hattiesburg, Miss., and Garland and Chandra Beasley, Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren, Stephanie Spiess, Hunter Beasley, Truett Beasley III and Skylar Beasley; and Mr. Beasley's sisters, Bessie Love Harris, Houston, Tex., and Opal Eckels, Gainsville.
