Construction on the new Zaxby's restaurant along Washington Road is tentatively set to wrap up later this month, according to Zaxby's spokesperson Jay Solomon.
"We're looking at probably around the end of the month," he said. "But it's still an indefinite date at this time."
The new Thomson location will be 3,500 square feet and will seat nearly 90. It will also feature Zaxby's newest design -- a bright, open interior decor complemented by vintage memorabilia and signage. The new Zaxby's will create an additional 40 to 50 jobs for the area, consisting primarily of cooks and cashiers and is still accepting applications. Those interested in employment can stop by the new location to pick up an application Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
"Thomson is an exciting area that presents a great opportunity for Zaxby's to grow," saidHerb Miller, who currently serves as district manager for five Zaxby's locations in Georgia and South Carolina and will oversee the Thomson restaurant as well. "We believe residents of McDuffie County will find the new location an enjoyable and convenient gathering place for friends and family. We're eager to become a part of this fast-growing community both as a business and neighborhood partner."
Zaxby's built its business, which now includes more than 200 restaurants throughout the Southeast, on providing the freshest chicken fingers, Buffalo wings, sandwiches and more in a fun, relaxing atmosphere.
The "quick-casual" format combines the ambience of a sit-down restaurant with convenient options for those on the go, including drive-thru and phone-in services.
"I'm thrilled to bring the unique taste and atmosphere of Zaxby's to Thomson," said Mr. Miller.
"This new restaurant gives me the opportunity to combine my passion for Zaxby's with my dedication to the Thomson/Augusta area."
