WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. Albert J. Massey departed this life on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007, at Warren County High School Auditorium in Warrenton. The Rev. Isaiah Eberhart officiated. Interment was in Westview Cemetery in Thomson.
As an educator in Warren County, he served as a sixth and eighth grade teacher, a basketball coach, athletic director, assistant principal and principal and as a member of Warren County Board of Education member. He retired from the Warren County School System. He accepted Christ and joined the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in his hometown of Waxhaw, NC. In 1969, he joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully. Because of his dedication to the Christ and the church, he was ordained to the Deacon's Ministry in 1973. Mr. Massey was indeed a community-oriented citizen and was always helpful to all.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emily Massey; two children, Ms. Jerina Marvia Munford, Stone Mountain, Ga., Mr. Jerome, (Davina) Massey, Tyrone, Ga.; grandchildren, Darren Munford, Adam, Taylor and Miles Massey; two sisters, Mrs. Annie F. Crow (Jimmy) and Mrs. Virginia Johnson, Waxhaw, NC; two aunts, Ms. Cora M. Massey, Highpoint, NC and Ms. Mary Barnes, Philadelphia, Penn.
Dawson's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
