McDuffie County residents will soon be able to pay their property and automotive taxes with credit and debit cards after a motion was approved at last week's county commission meeting.
Commissioners agreed to sign an exclusive deal with Discover card to handle all of their credit card transactions. While credit card transactions will be limited to just Discover card, every kind of debit card will be accepted.
Commissioners said they went with the program because of high demand and the low costs associated with the upgrade.
Commissioners unanimously agreed to go with Atlanta-based architecture firm Bryant & Associates to conduct a feasibility study for the joint city/county complex. Commissioners agreed to pay Bryant & Associates up to $20,000 to conduct the study, which will take the next several months to complete. $1.6 million was approved last year when McDuffie Residents passed the special purpose local option sales tax referendum. The remaining funds are allocated for land acquisition for the complex.
