On Saturday, June 24, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Collins were honored by their children with a Golden Anniversary Reception at their home, Woodville, in Appling. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Carey, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lemmon, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Collins, Ms. Karen Collins and Mr. Eric Murdock greeted approximately 200 friends and family members who visited throughout the afternoon, with many touring the newly redecorated 1814 antebellum home.

Mr. and Mrs. Collins were the fifth consecutive generation in their family to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. John Edward Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1902 at Otley Hall near Thomson, followed by Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Smith in 1927 and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Smith in 1962. Edith's parents, Lloyd and Chloe Smith, celebrated their 50th anniversary at Woodville in 1980.

Woodville was decorated and the grounds were immaculate. Mr. and Mrs. Collins are both retired school teachers who love to spend time at home. They met while attending Georgia Teacher's College after Mr. Collins served a tour in the US Air Force.
