HARLEM, Ga. - Mr. Thomas H. Jones, 82, beloved husband of Louise Jones, entered into rest Thursday, July 13, 2006 at University Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Harlem Baptist Church, Harlem with the Rev. Phillip Vestal officiating. Burial was in the South Harlem Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jones was a native of Giles County, Tenn., and the son of the late Persis and Eula Jones. He received the Victory Medal, Purple Heart and Cluster Medal in WWII. He was a member of the Harlem Baptist Church, Woodmen of the World, VFW of Harlem and Masonic Lodge No. 276. Mr. Jones was a Civil Service retiree.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Louise Watson Jones; one son, Tommy (Alice) Jones, Harlem; four daughters, Edee (Kenny) Sweatman, Harlem, Susan (Steve) Hall, Milledgeville, Lydia (Jamie) Newsome, Evans and Janis (Al) Clark of Thomson; one sister, Elise Little, Augusta. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Heather Sweatman, Kevin Sweatman, Brian Jones, Bryson Jones, Seth Newsome, Jana Newsome and Hank Hall.
Pallbearers were grandsons and Tyler Holley and Jonathan Holley.
