Dear Editor,
We have completed the results from our 2005 Relay for Life event, and are happy to report that we raised a record $220,773 for the year, with the efforts of 51 teams, corporate sponsors and more than 2,100 registered participants. We had more than 250 cancer survivors walk the first lap and had more than 1,000 luminary memorials made. All of these are new records for our Relay and should again place McDuffie County as No. 1 in the nation, raising over $10 for every man, woman and child in our county.
We extend our sincere thanks to our entire community for the tremendous effort by all in fund-raising, education and emphasis on cancer awareness, but also on the spirit and enthusiasm which makes this event the most broad-based "house party" and good time in our community.
We will continue to fight to end all cancers and for our organizing committee and the American Cancer Society, we say "thank you."
