Dearing Elementary gets track
Dearing residents and students will benefit from a recent addition to the Dearing Elementary School campus. A walking and running track was paved in June.
According to DES Principal Linda Grisham, an $8,000 health index grant from the Department of Health funded construction of the track. "I want it to be a community track. That track belongs to everyone," Dr. Grisham said. "I want people to feel comfortable to come and take their children and walk on the track and exercise."
With further funding from the Parent Teacher Organization and money awarded to the school for energy savings, a high school regulation surface will be added in the future.
