DEARING, Ga. - Mr. James E. Phillips, 68, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Upchurch and Mr. Jack McCorkle officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Phillips was a native of Taliaferro County, but had lived in Dearing for many years. He was retired from the Clearwater Finishing Company after 27 years of service and had also retired from Carter Electric. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter Dee (John) Lugari, Dearing; his son, James Scott Phillips, Dearing; a special companion, Dixie; two sisters, Ann Hickle and Louise (Lewis) Reese, both of Thomson; two brothers, Leonard (Cathy) Philips and Louis (Rachel) Phillips, both of Dearing; two grandchildren, John Lugari, Jr., and Stephanie Lugari; two great-grandsons, Preston Lugari and Jacob Lugari; his best friends, Paul and Dollie McMichael, Dearing; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Andy Phillips, Michael Phillips, Steve Whitaker, Ricky Whitaker, Lynn Phillips and Morris McTier.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
