THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Garland Edmunds Anderson, age 82, of Thomson, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Thomson Manor Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
Born July 4, 1925, in the Amity area of Lincoln County, she lived most of her life in McDuffie County. She was married to the late George Samuel Anderson, and together they raised four daughters, one son, and many grandchildren. Mrs. Garland was predeceased by her husband, George Samuel Anderson; parents, Foy Campbell Edmunds, Sr. and Camille Reese Edmunds; sisters, Latisha Griffin, Laverne Crosby, Louise Norris, Frances Holliman, Betty Jo Griffin, and Sarah Virginia Edmunds; one brother, Foy Campbell "F.C." Edmunds, Jr.; two daughters, Annie Mae Newsome Renfroe and Shirley Usry; and one granddaughter, Barbara Hubbard.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Kaye) Anderson, Sr.; daughters, Peggy (Thad) Usry and Dorothy Palmer (husband, Charles Nuckols), grandchildren, Rohn (Phyllis) Anderson, Jr., David (Unme) Anderson, Wayne Anderson, Pam (Chris) Dean, Jennifer (Marty) Malone, Beth Anderson Burnette, George Usry, Wayne (Melody) Usry, Donald (Cynthia) Usry; Terry (Deann) Usry, Wanda (Scott) Sutton, Wylene (David) Spivey, Wendy (Tommy) Housworth, Wade (Valerie) Palmer, Carol Welch, Micki Usry, Vicki Usry, and Lynn Usry; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Janette Hinton Padgett; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2007, in the Chapel of Curtis Funeral Home. Dr. Jim Ramsey officiated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Thomson First Baptist Church, 253 Jackson Street, P.O. Box 1205, Thomson, Ga. 30824, or to the charity of one's choice.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
