THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Amanda E. Wells, 93, widow of Mr. Barney C. Wells Sr., died Thursday, July 20, 2006, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 23, in the Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Wells was a native of McDuffie County. She was the Director of The McDuffie County Welfare Department where she worked since 1955 until her retirement. She was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Lydian Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney C. Wells Sr. in 1980.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Nancy Parker, Bowling Green, KY.; her two sons, Mr. Barney C. (Lum) Wells Jr. Warrenton and William H. Wells, Lincolnton; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were William H. Wells Jr., Jason D. Parker, B.C. Wells III, William H Wells Sr., Lum Wells, and John Parker. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Lydian Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomson First Baptist Church or to the charity of ones choice.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
