THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Chester S. Johnson, Sr., 84, of Thomson, entered into rest July 20, 2005 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
He was the beloved husband of the late Lilla Williams Johnson.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Smith and Patricia Johnson of Martinez; a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Andy Johnson of McDonough; brothers, Brad Johnson of Adel, Cliatt Johnson of Thomson; sisters, Dera Usry of Thomson, Bobbie Kelhum and Joyce Dixon, both of Elberton; grandchildren, Tripp Johnson, Julie Johnson, Paul Newberry (Linda), Mark Newberry (Kathy), Anne Newberry and Brian Johnson; great-grandchildren, Hudson Newberry, Emily Newberry, Kate Newberry and Danielle Newberry.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a son, William "Danny" Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and was the son of the late Sterling S. Johnson and the late Beulah McGahee Johnson. He was retired as a farmer and a member of the Farmer Bureau and the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Johnson was also a Baptist.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2005 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Dunaway officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Glen Godbee, Mark Newberry, Paul Newberry, Blaine Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jeff Mobley, Robbie Brunner.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
