Get a FreshStart in the battle to quit smoking

The American Cancer Society wants to help some McDuffie Countians kick the habit.

The group will offer four weeks of FreshStart classes in McDuffie County beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5. The one-hour classes will be held weekly from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Education Room at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

The American Cancer Society's FreshStart program provides a trained volunteer to help smokers to kick the tobacco habit. The program is designed to help smokers stop smoking in four weeks.

"FreshStart is an excellent way for people who want to quit smoking to learn how to modify their behavior and give up tobacco products for good," said Summer Garrison, a society community manager in Augusta. "With the state's indoor smoking ban now a law throughout Georgia, it is an excellent time for residents of McDuffie County to take this important step toward a healthier lifestyle."

For further information on the classes or to sign up to participate, call Summer Garrison at 706-731-9900 or 1-866-227-0904. The FreshStart classes are free of charge.
