Augusta Technical College Thomson/McDuffie Campus is having a Medical Assisting Orientation at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10. The orientation will give new students the opportunity to learn about the course and meet course instructor and advisor Stephanie McGahee.
"Mrs. McGahee gives an overview, she gives her history of how she got in the field, and basically she answers questions about it, about what they can expect from the program," said Julie Langham, enrollment manager.
The orientation is also for prospective students. Mrs. Langam said by the end of the course, prospects are going to know if they want to apply for the course or if Medical Assistant is not the career for them.
Medical Assisting is offered once annually at the Thomson Campus. The program is a five-quarter certification course being taught in day classes only.
"If anybody is just thinking about it, they can still come. ...It's a good indicator because (the instructor) is right there, and I'll be there, too, for application questions. So even if they haven't applied, they can still apply then," Mrs. Langham said.
The orientation session will be in the Thomson Campus Auditorium, 388 Tech Drive. Call 595-0166 for more information.
