Group encourages college look

Graduates of Thomson High School who furthered their education at Tuskegee University and Alabama State University want to encourage others to continue along an educational path by sponsoring educational tours. This is the brainchild of Carl Pettis, Chuck Pettis, along with the assistance of Kesha Jackson.

They want you to know that these two institutions' focus is to give middle and high school students the exposure to visit colleges and universities and to provide them the opportunity to visit historic and educational sites.

Therefore, they are co-sponsoring a chartered bus to carry middle and high school students to Tuskegee University and Alabama State University for tours, so mark your calendars. The trip will tour some of Alabama's most famous historic sites and will serve as a mobile classroom. They will journey to Tuskegee University and Alabama State University on Oct. 6-7. Then travel on to the fun and exciting Gulf Coast Classic in Mobile, as the Hornets of Alabama State take on the Jackson State Tigers. Then if you are really up to a crowd and the thrill of an unrivaled classic, join the early morning express on Oct. 28, as they travel to Birmingham, Ala., for one of the most heated battles of all, Alabama A&M Bulldogs vs. Alabama State Hornets in the Magic City classic on Nov. 11.

Other graduates of Thomson High School who are also graduates from Alabama State and Tuskegee are urged to join the effort. Seating is limited on the bus, so hurry! Adults are welcome.

If you are interested in one or all of the trips, please call one of the following people for more information: Ms. Jackson, 706-449-2097; Mary Belton, 706-595-2097; or Jane Pettis, 706-595-5114.
