AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ms. Vicki Lyn Sparks of Los Angeles, Cal., and Augusta, went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2006 after a brief hospitalization for lymphoma at University Hospital in Augusta.
Vicki was born in Augusta, on Dec. 2, 1950, and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1973. Since graduating from the University of Georgia, Vicki was successful in many endeavors. Upon graduation, she taught school and next she became a member of the original Georgia Peanut Brigade under former President Jimmy Carter. She also served as an administrative assistant to Zell Miller during his terms as Lieutenant Governor of Georgia. She retired from Delta Air Lines as a flight attendant after 25 years. She was an avid horseback rider, English and western, a professional published photographer, and a dog trainer who had a special connection with all animals. Most recently, Vicki became a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
Vicki was the daughter of Violet Blanchard Sparks and the late Francis Linton Sparks, Jr.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Kathryn Sparks Connell and her brother, Francis Linton (Bubba) Sparks, III who cherish the memories of their time together. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Pierce Gordon Blanchard and the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Linton Sparks, Sr. She is also survived by beloved aunts and cousins who she dearly treasured.
There was a celebration of Vicki's life officiated by the Reverend Roger Bennett, the Reverend John Davis and the Reverend Bill Bufton on Friday, August 4, at Beggs Chapel in Thomson, 11 a.m. Graveside services followed at the Sparks family plot, Sallie Hill Cemetery in Warrenton.
Serving as pallbearers were Vicki's cousins Joe Blanchard, Jim Blanchard, Pierce Blanchard, Jr., Pat Blanchard, Barney Dunstan, Mark Bartles. Honorary pallbearers were Brady Burch, Preston Blanchard and Phil Blanchard.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
