Dooley to sign books during Thomson event Thursday

Former University of Georgia head football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley will be the featured speaker at Thursday's Thomson Rotary Club.

Mr. Dooley, who completed his coaching career with a record of 201 victories, 77 losses and 10 ties, helped the University of Georgia capture six Southeastern Conference Championships, as well as a National Championship in1980.

Forward McDuffie Director Mike Carrington confirmed Wednesday that Mr. Dooley will be addressing local Rotarians during their luncheon on Aug. 14 at the Thomson Depot.

"I think it's great that Vince Dooley is coming to Thomson," Mr. Carrington said.

Later that same afternoon, Mr. Dooley will be returning to the Depot to meet with local residents and to sign autographs, etc.

Mr. Dooley will meet with local residents from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the annex of the depot, Mr. Carrington said. That event is being sponsored by Queensborough National Bank & Trust Company in Thomson.
