THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Carrol Welchel La Mantia, born July 10, 1944, entered into rest on August 2, 2008, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Carrol leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Manuel La Mantia, and her two sons, Michael La Mantia of Janesville, Wis., and Christopher La Mantia of Grovetown, and their respective families. Carrol also leaves behind her beloved sister Linda Mooney of West Covina, Calif., and her brother Robert Welchel of Tehachapi, Calif.
A native of Southern California, Carrol relocated to Thomson with her husband Manny in November of 2004. Carrol was a devoted wife and mother and delighted in spending time with her granddaughter, Katherine La Mantia. Carrol also enjoyed spending time fishing and playing poker and dreamed of one day playing in the World Poker Championship. Carrol will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the La Mantia family has requested that contributions be made to the Georgia Transplant Foundation or the Emory University Children's Hospital.
