WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. Wilson L. English, 80, surrounded by his beloved family, went to meet his Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2007.
Mr. English was born on February 5, 1927, in Warren County. He was the youngest son of the late C.J. and Nona English.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Margurite Simons English; his three daughters Anna Kelley (Ronnie) of Dearing, Nona E. Zeiler (Zeke) of Houston, Texas, and Betty English of Augusta, and his son Billy English (Jeannie) of Martinez; grandchildren, the late Kim Garner Lamb, Evan English (Kim) of Clover , SC, Kelli Z. Davidson (Jim) of Houston, Texas, Jonathan English of Augusta, Mark Zeiler of Orlando, Florida, Austin English of Martinez, and Drew Zeiler of Houston, Tracy Kelley (Kathy) and Penny Kelley, of Dearing; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James T. English, sister Nelle E. Price, and granddaughter Kim Garner Lamb.
After graduating from Warren County High School in 1945, he worked at Johnson's Cotton Gin in Warrenton, and after 29 years, he retired from Gulf Life Insurance in 1989. He was a Mason with 50 years of service. His greatest joys throughout his life were his Lord, his family, southern gospel music and serving the Warren County community by sharing God's love and helping his neighbors. He taught Sunday School and led the congregational singing at Johnson Methodist Church for 63 years. Mr. English can best be remembered for his loving heart, his willingness to help a person in need and his love of sports. He left a significant spiritual legacy through his children and grandchildren spreading the Gospel of Christ throughout the world. He is already in Heaven, experiencing singing on a whole new level.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 12, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Johnson United Methodist Church in Warren County. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The pallbearers were his grandsons, Evan English, Jonathan English, Austin English, Mark Zeiler and Drew Zeiler, Jim Davidson, Tracy Kelley, and nephew Tony Reese. Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Wednesday Morning Prayer Breakfast at Miss Jane's Restaurant.
