Going to a new school means changes for the children.
Sometimes these changes can be stressful. "New Kids on the Block" are the group of students that are new to Thomson Elementary School. Counselor Margie Staples meets with the new students at the beginning of the year for a brief orientation to the school personnel, rules and procedures, as well as identifying the persons they can come to if they are having problems or questions. During the year, the counselor meets with this group of students to discuss their adjustment to the new school setting and assists the children with any problems that they may be experiencing.
