Brown-Miller exchange vows

Jane Elizabeth Brown of Thomson and Paul Taylor Miller of Chickamauga were married at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at The First United Methodist Church in Thomson. The Rev. Drs. George Freeman and Robert C. Bowling officiated.


The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wesley Brown of Thomson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jane B. Hawes of Augusta and Ret. Colonel Richard Ellington Hawes, Jr. of Athens and Mrs. G.W. Brown of Thomson and the late G.W. Brown.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Merry T. Miller of Chickamauga and Mr. Gary Lee Miller, Sr. of Rossville. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Perry Wesley Taylor and Mr. Marshall F. Miller of Rossville and Mrs. Rosa Gentry of Chickamauga.

Miss Emily Christine Brown of Thomson, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Mr. Gary Lee Miller, Sr., of Rossville, father of the groom and Mr. Gary Lee Miller, Jr., of Valdosta, brother of the groom, were best men.

Bridesmaids were Jill Montez Bloodworth of Milledgeville, Christy Lee Gore of Byron, Sara Pirkle Hughes of Macon and Ashton Robin Whitaker of Thomson, all friends of the bride and Kimberly Wells Miller of Valdosta, sister-in-law of the groom and Kala Lee Miller of Valdosta, niece of the groom.

Groomsmen were Matthew Ted Wright Cooper of Chickamauga, David Howard Haynes, Jr., of Chickamauga, Lance Young Hunter of Chickamauga, David Sutton Pierce of Chickamauga and Dane Alvar Nelson of Cordele, all friends of the groom.

Ushers were David Adam Dickson of Chickamauga, Jonathan Drew Furey of Palmetto and Samuel Bassford Purdy of Palmetto, all friends of the groom.

Junior groomsmen were Jake Marcus Miller of Valdosta and Luke Justin Miller of Valdosta, both nephews of the groom.

The scripture reader was Charles William Brunson, III and the soloist was Mrs. Charles William Brunson, Jr. A special guest was the groom's honorary grandmother, Mrs. Evelyn Taylor.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The bride is a graduate of Thomson High School and Valdosta State University with a Masters Degree in Speech and Language Disorders. The groom is a graduate of Gordon Lee Academy and Valdosta State University with a degree in history. He is employed by Lee's Bookstore in Valdosta.

After a reception at the home of the bride's parents in Thomson, the couple left for a wedding trip to Marco Island, Florida. They will reside in Valdosta.
