Mrs. Bessie Maude Cooper Bales

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Bessie Maude Cooper Bales, 78, entered into rest Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 18, at Mitchell Full Gospel Church, Mitchell with Rev. Eddie Renew and Rev. Jacky Downs officiating. Interment was in the Cooper Family Cemetery.

Mrs. Bales was a native of Glascock County. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Bales is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Mr. Roger Bales of Thomson; four daughters, Rebecca (Billy) Reese of Thomson, Connie (Dewitt) Johnson of Suwanee, Ga., Brenda Brown and Frank Corley of Mitchell and Wanda Mathis and Frank Youngblood of Gibson; five sons, George (Nancy) Bales of Augusta, Rodney Bales and Gail Bales of Belize, C.A. and Grovetown respectively, Ronald (Khongok) Bales of Naknek, Alaska, Donald (Debra) Bales of Gibson and Troy (Marie) Bales of Gibson; 38 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Minnie Cooper.

Pallbearers were grandson, Jason Franks, Jeff Bales, Milton Brown, Duke Whitfield, Frank Youngblood, III, Deric Bales, Kenny Bales and Kevin Bales.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
