THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Barbara Ann Jones Newsome, 74, beloved wife of Mr. Roy Newsome, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Randy Dunaway officiating. Burial followed in the Westview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Newsome Sr., Richard Newsome Jr., John Osborne, Gary Little, Robert Milford Jr., and Lamar Massey. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Newsome, Ricky Newsome and Ronald Newsome.
A native of Lynchburg, Va., Mrs. Newsome retired from State Farm Insurance as a Secretary. She was a member of Thomson First United Methodist Church, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
She is survived by husband: Mr. Roy Rogers Newsome of Thomson, two aunts: Nancy Long, and Aleise Harlow, both of Bedford, Va., Uncle: Richard Torrence of Lynchburg, Va., care giver: Mrs. Betty Belton of Thomson, and several cousins.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
