Thanks for remembering the vets

Dear Editor,

Thank you for the article reminding us of their sacrifice.

I am new to the community, and I wear the Roundel of the Royal Air Force on my suit lapel as a small monument to the men and women, not only of the RAF but of all the Allies - from the 10th Mountain Division to the Marines at Iwo Jima.

My Marine tour was quiet and just a few years after 7,000 Marines died on the beaches of Iwo Jima. I do not know how I would handle coming out of the hole of a ship and facing those beaches!

We owe them a lot and they should not be forgotten - thank you again for the article.

Bill Crawford, Warrenton
