Mrs. Carolyn Kirkland Carter CLEARWATER, S.C.- Memorial services for Mrs. Carolyn Kirkland Carter, 59, of Clearwater, S.C., who died August 18, 2004, were conducted Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from St. John's Episcopal Church, North Augusta, S.C. Rev. Robert M. Hartley officiating. Interment was private. Mrs. Carter was a native of Augusta, having made Clearwater her home for the past 45 years. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, retired from King Mill. Mrs. Carter was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth James Moon; her father, Jesse Kirkland and her sister, Marie Thompson. Survivors include her husband, William Mitchell Carter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa M. and Jack Westbrook and Shannon M. and Wade T. Gordy, Jr., both of Jackson; mother, Cora L. Kirkland, Clearwater; one brother, Gerald Kirkland, Macon, Ga.; four grandsons, Jonathan R. Watkins, Kyle Busbee , Blake Busbee, and Wade Thomas Gordy III, all of Jackson; one granddaughter, Leigh Gordy, Thomson. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, Ga. 30904 or to St. John's Episcopal Church, 920 Clearwater Road, North Augusta, S.C., 29841.
