Mr. John D. Gardner, Sr.
Retired
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. John D. Gardner, Sr., long-time Thomson resident, passed away on August 17, 2004 at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. He was 82.
Mr. Gardner settled in Thomson upon his discharge from the U.S. Army after World War II. He served in the 10th Armored Division and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He worked at Johnson Chevrolet and later ran his own garage. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a charter member of Raysville Boat Club.
Mr. Gardner is survived by Louise, his wife of 60 years; by his brother, Bob, of Brandon, Mississippi; his daughter, Lee Ann of Birmingham and by his son, David of Atlanta.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Savannah Valley memorial Gardens.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
