Beverly McCorkle and Kenneth Welch were united in marriage on Friday, June 25, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the rose garden of the bride's parents. Dr. Mike Timmerman, pastor of the couple, officiated the double ring ceremony. Karen McTier, friend of the bride since childhood, provided the wedding music.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Donald E. McCorkle, Sr. of Dearing. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James A. Tilby of Thomson and the late Mr. & Mrs. C. S. McCorkle of Dearing.
The groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John W. Welch of Dearing. He is the grandson of the late Mr. & Mrs. Humphrey Hood of Wrens and the late Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy Earl Welch of Dearing.
The gazebo in the rose garden was adorned with satin bows made by Tonya Griffin, a friend of the bride, and decorated by Brian and Maria Jernigan with Magnolias and flowering Perennials grown by McCorkle Nurseries.
The bride was escorted by her daughter, Candace Johnson. The bride wore a rum-pink satin gown with a sleeveless scoop neck. Bugle beads embellished the bodice of the gown. It had a detachable train inset with organza rosettes. The veil was a tiara bun wrap with motifs of rum-pink satin rosettes and pearls. It was a fingertip length veil edged with rum-pink satin trim. The bride's bouquet, as well as the other attendants' bouquets, featured roses grown by the bride's father and arranged by Barbara Crisci, a friend of the bride.
The bride chose her daughter, Candace Johnson, of Dearing as maid of honor. She wore an identical dress to that of her mother less the train. Dee Welch Hawkins, daughter of the groom, of Evans was matron of honor.
The groom wore a black Ralph Lauren tuxedo with tails with a vest that matched the bride's dress.
The groom chose his son, Kenneth Welch, Jr., of Decatur as best man.
Flower girl was Lauren Hawkins, granddaughter of the groom, and Ring bearer was Hunter Hawkins, grandson of the groom both of Evans.
A reception was held by the pool at the home of the bride's parents. Maria McCorkle, sister-in-law of the bride, made a beautiful three-tiered wedding cake as a gift to the couple. The bride made the groom's cake, a favorite of the groom. Servers were Maria McCorkle, Joy Raley, Leigh Lackey and Barbara Crisci all friends of the bride.
During the reception, the couple was entertained by the bride's daughter and several members of the Augusta West Mini Troupe as they danced to The Way You Look Tonight and several other songs.
After the reception, the couple left for a honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii. They will live in Dearing.
