CONCORD, N.C. - Mrs. Lucille "Granny" Parks McBride, 87, of Concord, died August 21, 2007, at Heritage at Town Center in Harrisburg N.C.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. in Wrightboro Methodist Church in Thomson.
Mrs. Parks was born August 7, 1920, in Davidson County, N.C., to the late Perry Marvin Parks Sr. and Dora Mae Presnell Parks. She was formerly of Augusta, where she retired in textiles. She went to work part time as a volunteer at Fort Gordon Army Base with the Child Development Center as a foster grandparent, caring for children with special needs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry McBride, Jr., who died December 12, 1980; a son, Larry McBride; a daughter, Virginia P. Whisnant; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren and nine siblings.
Survivors include a son, Bruce McBride, Sr., and wife, Linda Darnell, of Concord; two daughters, Gayle Odom and husband, James Gumby, of Thomson, and Michelle Palmer of Waco, Tex.. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
