McDuffie Regional Medical Center is recognized as a national award winner in healthcare service quality for "Exceeding Patient Expectations" and "Best Performer 2003 for Ambulatory Surgery Care" by Avatar International Inc. The award is based on the results of the hospital's 2003 surveys.
Michael Everett, Avatar Founder and CEO, said his company was honored to be associated with such good local hospitals.
"This award is recognition of the hospital's commitment to provide exemplary service to its community," he said. "Patient surveys provide valuable feedback to help hospitals continuously improve service quality. When needing healthcare, you want to know that you are not only receiving the best clinical quality but also the best service quality."
McDuffie Regional Medical Center CEO Doug Keir said the awards say a lot about the hospital and the people that work there.
"I always knew we had great people, and to be recognized two consecutive years is so rewarding," he said. "I take my hat off to each caregiver and a huge thank you to our communities for responding to the surveys."
The surveys allow hospital officials to succinctly understand what patients are looking for, hospitals officials said.
