Mrs. Beulah Hood

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Beulah Hood, 86, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at her residence.

Funeral Services were held Sunday, September 2, at 3 p.m., at Old Bethel Church, in Bartow, Ga., with the Rev. Bill Thigpen officiating. Burial was in Waldens Methodist Church Cemetery in Avera, Ga.

Mrs. Hood was born on June 3, 1921, in Glascock County. She was the daughter of the late Luther and Bashie Thigpen. Miss Beulah is remembered by all who met her for her smiling face and "I love you" upon parting. For those who knew and loved her as Mom or Beulah, we carry the memory of her strength and caring - "We love you too!"

Her survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Bea Hood of Mesquite, Tex.; Jerry and Mila Hood of Dallas, Tex.; and Pat Hood of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; two daughters and son-in-laws, Irene and the late Otis Mullins of Sulphur, La.; and Dianne and David Bullard of North Augusta; daughter-in-law Ellen Hood of Thomson; two brothers and sister-in-law, Ray and Ruby Thigpen of Grovetown; and Harold Thigpen of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and sister-in-law Lois Thigpen of Louisville.

She was known as Grandma Hood by her grandchildren, Cindy Holly, Melanie Heath, Sheila Babineaux, Cheyenne Mullins, Doug Mullins, Kevin Hood, Mark Hood, Larry Hood Jr., Derek Neal, Dana Neal, David Bullard Jr., Chris Bullard, and Katie Bullard.

Grandma Hood also enjoyed 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hood is preceded in death by two sons, Frankie and Eddie "Tolie" Hood; three brothers, Frank Thigpen, Bud Thigpen, and Billy Thigpen; and one sister, Emma Newsome.

Pallbearers were Derek Neal, Cheyenne Mullins, Doug Mullins, Keith Babineaux, David Bullard Jr., Chris Bullard, Bill McGlohorn. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Coxwell and David Wilcher.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
