THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. John C. Dean, 78, of Thomson, entered into rest September 3, 2006, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Christene Dean.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Revs. Jon Richards and Allen Holbrook officiating. Pallbearers were: Smokey Kitchens, Mike Neal, Wally Davis, Jack Hutcheson, Bobby Jones, Johnny Batten, Ray Clark, William Tam.
Mr. Dean was a native of Bell County, Tex., and lived in Thomson since 1972 . He was retired as a carpenter and as a Project Superintendent. Mr. Dean served in the U. S. Air Force following WWII in Occupied Japan and played on the U.S. Air Force Football Team. He was also a member of the J. H. Gurley Masonic Lodge #337 in Waco, Tex., and a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church in Correll County, Tex.
Survivors include: wife, Christene G. Dean, Thomson; sons, Dennis Wesley Dean (Lisa), Thomson, John William Dean (Ginger), Thomson, Christopher Thomas Dean (Pam), Thomson; daughters, Cindy Amerson (Ken), Thomson, Vickie Newsome (Leon, Jr.), Thomson, Johnnie Brown (Gene), Norwood; brother, T. R. Dean, Moody, Tex.; sister, Lavada Galloway, Belton, Tex.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dean was preceded in death by a son, David Ray Dean, and a daughter, Yvonne Kay Smith. Memorials may be made to Raysville Baptist Church 5264 Lincolnton Hwy, Thomson, Ga. 30824.
