APPLING, Ga. - Mrs. Susan Jane Tankersley, of Appling, entered into rest September 1, 2006 at MCG. She was the beloved wife of Larry Tankersley.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 4, 2006, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Revs. Mark Taylor, Dan White and Tim Corbin officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were: David Dozier, James Sweat, Lanny Bullard, Danny Johnson, Lawrence Henderson, Calbert Schlein, Joe Dozier and Gene Collins.
Mrs. Tankersley was a native of Rutherfordton, N. C., and lived in the Appling community since 1969. She was a volunteer with Columbia County Cares, member of the Red Hat Society Club and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. The family said Mrs. Tankersley enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include, husband, Larry Tankersley, Appling; daughters, Teresa Baston (James), Saluda, S.C., Lisa Hulsey (Stuart), Lawrenceville, Ga.; step-children, Teresa Walker (Billy), Harlem, Donna Inglett (Tommy), Grovetown, Mike Tankersley (Sandy), Appling; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers, Faye Greene and Amos Greene, both of North Carolina; sisters, Ellie Kelley, Nadine Tessnair and Elsie Brewer, all of North Carolina.
