STAPLETON, Ga. - Mr. John Durham McTier, 91, died, Friday, September 5, 2008, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008, in the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Frierson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. McTier was a native of Warren County, but had lived in Stapleton for many years. He retired from Thomson Company, and he was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, were he was an inactive deacon. Mr. McTier was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Alma Milburn McTier.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Sandra (Charles) McTier Rabun, Thomson; his son, Mr. Mansel (Jerry) McTier, Thomson; his sister, Mrs. Chloe Purvis, Stapleton; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Troy McTier, Tripp McTier, Joshua McTier, Chad Rabun, Vann Phillips and Michael Drawdy. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
