There are weeks you wish you could just erase.
So far, this has been one of them.
It seems tragedy has visited McDuffie County too often this year. On Monday and Tuesday of this week, there were two more deaths on local byways. And, according to some accounts, each may have been prevented by the use of seat belts.
Now, I freely admit that I sometimes do not wear a seatbelt - especially on short trips across town - so this is certainly a "Do as I say, not as I do" situation.
But I'll make this promise: After watching two lives get cut short in less than 24 hours, I'll be more responsible in the future and buckle up much more often.
I hope that you'll join me in making that commitment, and encourage others to join in also. Please remember to buckle up any time you are on the road (that goes for passengers, too), and use extra caution on area roadways.
You know, it only takes a second to be gone forever. And it'll take forever for your loved ones to get over losing you.
