Fine food...premium wine ...timeless music. It's the perfect combination for a harvest celebration.
1810 Country Inn and Winery, the Activities Council of Thomson, the McDuffie Tourism Board, and Regions Bank have joined forces to bring the Wine Harvest Celebration with Steve Forbert in concert at 1810's vineyard, Saturday, Sept. 24.
"This harvest celebration is literally about enjoying the fruits of one's labor, in particular to celebrate and give thanks for the blessing of a fine grape crop in Georgia this year ...a crop that will cause our vats to overflow with a variety of fine wines," said Thomas DeRosset, owner of 1810.
Mr. Forbert is a folk songwriter and performer with 12 recordings from 1978-2002. Mr. Forberts' music channels folk, rock, country, and rhythm and blues into a unique American sound. His song "Romeo's Tune" broke the Top 20 charts in 1979.
"I am truly thankful to the Activities Council for allowing 1810 to participate in this year's concert series via the harvest festival," Mr. DeRosset said. "Don Powers has done a phenomenal job bringing some wonderfully talented entertainment to Thomson this year, and the best is yet to come with headliner Steve Forbert, who is a class act. Forbert's music will set the perfect tone for a wonderful harvest evening."
The concert will feature an opening act by The Crosstie Walkers. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. beside the vineyard at 1810.
Tickets to the concert include heavy hors'doeuvres, a tour of the winery, and tastings of 1810's Viognier, Sangiovese, Camellia Red, and a newly-released Merlot. Tours and wine tastings will begin at 4 p.m. Reservations for dinner at the 1810 Restaurant before the concert are encouraged.
Tickets are $12.50 in advance and are available at the Winery or the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $15 at the gate.
