This weekend, local bands won't quit. Band Together for Hurricane Katrina Relief will feature bands or DJs playing all day and night Saturday at Tricky's Barbeque and Steakhouse on Augusta Road in Thomson.
Jake Jacobs, organizer of the event and bass player for Southbound, said his wife suggested his band do a benefit for hurricane victims, and people started pulling together to contribute.
"I thought it was a great idea," Mr. Jacobs said. "People want to help, some just don't know how, and this is a way they can get involved."
All monies earned from the event, which includes a five dollar donation at the door, sales from hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, beer and soft drinks, and a raffle and auction, will go directly to the Red Cross.
Acts already booked are Chris Goss at 11 a.m., Robert Epps at 2 p.m., Ruskin Yeargain at 3 p.m., Georgia Rhythm at 5 p.m., Bobby Houston and Silverado at 7 p.m., Broken Arrow and Fat Daddy at 8 p.m., Sassy Brass at 9 p.m., and Tony Cannon and Southbound at 10 and 11 p.m.
The event begins at 11 a.m. Saturday and ends at 2 a.m. Sunday. It is open for any age until 10 p.m. Saturday, when only persons over 21 will be admitted. For more information or to schedule your band to play, call Tricky's at 595-4949.
