Local United Way starts relief fund From Staff Reports The United Way of McDuffie and Warren Counties is available to receive cash donations for the Katrina relief fund. Please clearly mark checks "Katrina relief fund," and mail to United Way, PO Box 87, Thomson, GA 30824. Riley Stamey, board chairman, said the funds will be directed to the proper sources for immediate use. "The rebuilding of the devastated areas is a long-term project...If the community businesses...and civic groups...wish to stage special fund-raising efforts, we will assist by qualifying the final distribution group in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area and the Greater New Orleans area," he said.
