THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Evelyn N. Hughes, 70, beloved wife of Mr. Gene Hughes of Wire Road, died Tuesday, September 6, 2005, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 8, in the Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey, Rev. Kenneth Garvin and Rev. Josh Hughes officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hughes was a native of Warren County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a bookkeeper for Wilson Homes for many years and had retired from Jefferson Electric EMC. She was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Gene Hughes, Thomson; three sons, David Hughes, Mark (Kathy) Hughes and Van Hughes, all of Thomson; a brother, Larry (Louise) Newsome, Macon and five grandchildren, Brice Hughes, Blake Hughes, Michael Hughes, Kasie Hughes and Kimi Hughes.
Pallbearers were Jim Wilson, Ricky Newsome, Lynn Shelton, Jack Garrison, Mark Richards, Terry Josey, Tommy Rushing, Michael Rogers, Epp Wilson, Billy Williamson, Grady Thomas, Everett Newsome, Harold Faglier and Ricky Wood.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
